Almost 2 years before publishing this post, I worked on making this really cool plaque/award for the Burton D Morgan Foundation, who had made a donation to Case Western Reserve University.

I did not design this and worked on it with a bunch of people, so I can't take credit for the whole thing. I worked on machining all the brass and walnut components and final fitting/assembly.
Engraving the brass parts was my first time using the painter's tape and superglue fixturing method on the CNC. Engraving along would have worked fine, but I also needed to face the stock, drill holes, cut out the windows, and cut the plates to final size. Thankfully everything worked out and the parts turned out pretty nicely.

I don't have any photos from painting and polishing the brass, but believe me when I say it took me a long time. Though in the end this turned out awesome and it was definitely worth the effort.
